Art by Yasmina Reza is a sharp, witty, and thought-provoking play that explores the complexities of friendship, taste, and the meaning of art. The story revolves around three long-time friends—Serge, Marc, and Yvan—whose relationships are put to the test when Serge purchases an expensive piece of modern art: a seemingly all-white painting. Marc despises it, Serge defends it passionately, and Yvan tries to mediate, leading to humorous and deeply personal confrontations.

Through biting dialogue and clever humor, Reza delves into how personal values, insecurities, and unspoken tensions can challenge even the closest of bonds. Art asks the audience to reflect on the nature of art and its role in our lives while offering a piercing look at human connections. Winner of the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play, this timeless work continues to resonate with its blend of wit and emotional depth.
