The Music of A DOLL'S HOUSE

Theatre and music are close friends. When they are together, working in harmony - it can be magical.

South Asian theatre has such a rich tapestry of music to pull from - from folk to classical, different styles, languages and instruments. In A DOLL'S HOUSE we have two original songs.

Koi Nazm Nahin

Koi Nazm Nahin is a wonderfully evocative, well, nazm, penned by Shekhar Hemnani and set to music by Aalap Desai. Sung by our lead actor, the multi-talented Sindu Singh, it is already getting rave reviews.

Katti Na Ateri Na

Katti Na Ateri Na is a traditional Punjabi folk song sung at Karva Chauth, a North Indian festival where the woman prays for the long life of her husband. It was set to music by Aalap Desai and sung by Dhira Ramakrishnan, Sindu Singh and Sangeeta Doraiswamy.

Eternal Flame

Singing is actually quite significant to the plot of A DOLL'S HOUSE. Naina, protagonist, played by Sindu Singh, is a singer. In the play, she sings Eternal Flame by The Bangles, accompanied by Phil Wiseman/ Vinod Ananth on the guitar. You'll have to come to the play to hear Naina belt out classic pop number, but we've put up a 30 second clip on SoundCloud here.

All the music from the play can be heard on our SoundCloud channel.
