Rita Bhatia on Directing FOREVER
Forever, written by Varun Arvind and Namita Vakil, is the lyrical story of two strangers who meet at a funeral. They have both been grappling with issues of self-identity and the nature of their personal relationships. In their meeting they discover an unexpected bond between them. Do they find the answers they are looking for?
Forever is a tale of loss and grief but also of love, kindness and empathy. It reminds us that there is nothing more powerful in the human experience than the connection between two people.
With Forever, I make my Zoom directorial debut with Bay Area Drama Company. It has been a very rewarding experience so far, in no small part, due to my wonderful cast - Anju Prakash, Roshan Mathews, Vibeka Sen Sisodiya, technical director Roshni Datta and music composer Pranav Jhumkhawala. Their commitment and beautiful work, all done remotely, reminds me that in these difficult times, art can bring us together. Art has never been more powerful, important and relevant than it is now. And live theatre matters, even if it is on Zoom.
Bringing this play to life, has been a privilege. I look forward to having you with us on Zoom, as we recount a story that will touch your heart, Forever.
